Celebrating community strength through Asset-Based Development
At Vrede Solar, we believe that sustainable development starts with recognising and building on the strengths that already exist within a community. This principle is at the heart of the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) process currently underway with local stakeholders.
Community members have been actively participating in a series of workshops and engagement sessions designed to identify and celebrate the skills, knowledge, relationships, and resources that make their community unique. The process encourages residents, local organisations, associations, and institutions to come together and explore the assets they already possess, rather than focusing solely on challenges or needs.
Through open dialogue and collaboration, participants are uncovering opportunities to harness local talents and build stronger connections that can support long-term community growth and resilience. These contributions are not only valuable—they are essential in shaping a development pathway that is driven by local leadership and ownership.
The ABCD process is also laying the groundwork for meaningful partnerships that can grow alongside the Vrede Solar project. By working together, we are helping to create opportunities that are rooted in community strengths, local innovation, and shared aspirations for the future.
As this journey continues, Vrede Solar remains committed to listening, learning, and supporting initiatives that emerge from within the community itself. By focusing on what is strong rather than what is lacking, we can unlock new possibilities and help create lasting positive impact for generations to come.
